Hotel Block at the Riggs

Primary Block at the Riggs Hotel

The former Riggs National Bank building is a phenomenal hotel experience in the heart of Washington, DC. The Riggs is located around the corner from our reception venue, and offers easy access to many of DC’s main attractions. The former bank vault in the basement of the Riggs is home to one of DC’s best cocktail bars, Silver Lyan.

Additional Hotel Options

There is no shortage of hotels in downtown DC or elsewhere in the city. Some of the closest options to the Riggs include the Kimpton Hotel Monaco Washington, DC and the Grand Hyatt Washington, but most major hotel brands are nearby. Feel free to reach out for additional recommendations if you prefer to stay outside the hotel block.

Traveling by car

If you are traveling into the city by car, you have several parking options downtown. Our primary hotel block will likely be at the Riggs Hotel - check back on this page for more information. Overnight valet parking is available at the Riggs Hotel for $64 per vehicle per night. There are 4-5 additional parking garages within several blocks of the hotel. Street parking will be difficult or impossible.

Traveling by train

If you are traveling into the city by train, you will head to Union Station, DC’s central train hub. Union Station is located less than two miles from the hotel, with an easy-to-navigate cab stand out front, an Uber pick-up node, and a Metro station underground. If you opt to take the Metro, you will take two stops on the Red Line towards Shady Grove. Once you reach Chinatown, head to the 9th and G St. exit (look for the signs). You will be one block from the hotel.

Traveling by plane

The closest airport to DC is Washington National / Ronald Reagan National Airport (DCA), approximately 15-20 minutes outside the city. Washington-Dulles (IAD) and Baltimore-Washington International (BWI) are approximately 45 minutes and 75 minutes from DC, respectively. Reagan is metro accessible, while IAD and BWI technically have metro or local train access but are easier to take a car from. If you come through DCA and want to get a car into town, the cab stand is almost always more efficient than rideshare.

Driving

DC always has traffic. We are downtown on a weekend, so it may be reduced depending on the time of day. We encourage public transit if you’re comfortable with the Metro. Otherwise, we would suggest Uber or Lyft. If you have to drive, the ParkMobile app is the easiest way to pay for street parking in the city.

Ordering food

DoorDash, Uber Eats, or GoPuff will get you anything your heart desires. If you’re staying at The Riggs, there is no shortage of food options within several blocks of the hotel.

Public transportation

DC’s metro is highly accessible, and is now primarily mobile phone-based. Add SmartTrip to your wallet, load your card, and get going. DC’s Metro fare system is based on distance traveled, rather than a flat fee. DC has a solid bus system, too but the Metro tends to be the most reliable if you’re looking for the straightforward option.
